So I must find a new sitter for after the summer and after asking around I came up with nothing. Thought I'd try care.com. But why do I have to pay $70 for a 3 month membership (that will automatically renew) to get a person's contact information?! This seems rediculous to me and I'm refusing to pay the outrageous fee. Does anyone know how to find out a person's contact information without actually paying the $70?

Yiikes - that seems steep...

I've done a "work around" before where you copy and paste the paragraph about the sitter - often they post on multiple sites - some are free to access info. (craigslist comes up frequently)

Good luck - finding a sitter is hard. I found a great one but she is rarely free because she is in demand.

That seems very steep! We pay $25/year for a membership to a temporary nanny placement agency. It is different - they match you up, you can browse through sitters' info, but they do talk to you and help find the right person, and you can say no if you don't agree and they will keep working to find you someone else. However, we do pay a $15 placement fee each time we have a nanny, so I guess that would add up to $75 quickly if you use it a lot.Other than that, we pay the sitter/nanny directly.

I did use care.com about 3 yrs ago but only paid $30 for one month. Then canceled. With that it included background checks and some people wrote referrals on there if they had that person sit for them. That is where I found my sitter of 3 yrs who is now moving
But for me it was worth the cost. Not sure if there is a monthly option or not now. But you can cancel so it doesn't auto renew (at least that was my understanding).
Good luck finding a sitter ... it is such a hard thing.

I use sittercity. It is $70 per year but you can do a free one week trial.

I will have to look into sittercity. $70 for a year is much more reasonable.
