Since being on my own I have had to deal with the stuff that DH dealt with. Like dead mouse in the garage..yuk dealt with that yesterday ...gross.
Today mowing the lawn...freakin' snakes. I know they are the harmless ones but still. The vacant lot beside me is not mowed (yes I have complained the grass is 4 ft tall ! My fight every year to get them to mow it. When mowed no snakes!
Also some ding dang rabbit ate my lettuce I had planted ! UGH. Tried to eat my marigolds but decided he didn't like them.
I am all for wildlife as long as they leave my home alone.
Oh and spiders too.. had to spray around the house. We have all had spider bites now..
Did I mention I do not like to do this stuff? I need to find a boyfriend who can take care of all of this junk... or some kind of rent a husband to deal with all the yuk stuff. haha!

A big high five to you mamma! BOO rabbit!

I think about that frequently...my husband handles gross critters as well as all of the appliance stuff (lights, sprinklers, broken appliances, etc.)

My best friends husband is deployed. She bought a table and realized she couldn't get it out of her car alone - had to drive around with it for 5 days before she found a neighbor available to unload.

I like the idea of boyfriend....any prospects?!?!?

Sadly no boyfriend prospects yet. I am open to it though so you never know. We shall see.
Preferrably a guy who is good at home repairs and dealing with yuky critters..haha!

My mom was a single mom and she had to deal with all of the creatures too ( no grass mowing- we lived in an apartment). We lived in the city, so it was mice, roaches, ants, and wasps - there was a nest right in front of the door to our apartment every year that mangement was slow to take care of. She's very girly so I know that she didn't like it, but she never let on ( she rocked!).
She had boyfriends but none that ever lived with us and they all manged to be eerily absent when these things needed to be done-LOL!! So when you get one, make sure he's good at taking care of your other, more personal needs(wink, wink), in case he misses the dead moise!

I say teach the boys to be handy at a young age. My mom only had two girls, but my sister can fix almost ANYTHING ( I sadly, cannot) and we are both pretty good at heavy lifting!

Good luck!

Oh Vic...Forgot yesterday a small wasp nest by my garage. Took care of that too!
Yes and with my luck the boyfriend would not be around.
I am more of a girly , girl too but I know I have to do this stuff. I never let it show either. The boys know I don't like it but they know I am "Brave" and will take care of it !
The boys are learning to do stuff as well. They love to help me fix things... I try to fix most things on my own with the exception of electrial and most plumbing stuff. Although I have re-wired simple things ....
I also grew up on a farm so I also know about all this junk too. My mom deals with so much more by herself as she lives on the farm still. I think growing up on the farm even though a girly, girl I had to learn to deal with lots of critters ect.

Vics - and your mom always had styled hair right?!?! It sounds like she rocked AND rolled!

I have 2 friends that have their own tool boxes and can fix anything - it's a vital skill!

I try to fix stuff but always do it wrong- my dh is even more inept than I am.
When there is a critter around I make him handle it- but when he is not around I can take care of it.
One mom of a friend I knew in high school was a widow, and she actually had a service called 'hire a husband' come around, they did small home repair and updating.

Yes, she alwys has her hair styled- and she likes her nails done too-LOL!! She's why I am as crazy as I am!

My DH is pretty good at fixing stuff and he loves his tool box- but I think my sister may be better than him at it because she has the woman's "just do what needs to be done" and she would have it fixed while DH would still be thinking of reasons why nothing really needed to be done right away! LOL!!

Well Sandra, I am hoping that the boyfriend is handy and around at the right times!

I do no think I could re-wire something if my life depended on it! My sister once put in a ceiling fan in our apartment by herself- and she was in high school then. Bus she can't cook that well and hates to clean- we each had our jobs!

I'm just like your sister Vickie AND your mom!! I like my hair and make up done. But I will take over and just fix things. It annoys me when DH puts it off. I was single until my 30s and lived in my own place. I moved 75 miles away from my family so I had to 'figure it out' more times than I liked. But I also have way too much testosterone for my own good!! I think I can do anything!

My SO will put things off too long for my liking. Most of the time I just end up doing it my self. My grandpa thought that girls should be able to do things that boys did so he made sure I learned too. I've changed out more toilets than I care to admit. I am so thankful that I have those skills though.

I put in a ceiling fan in our bedroom a few years ago that my SO had let sit in the box for more than 2 years b/c he hadn't gotten around to putting it up. Took less than an hour.
