Last day of kindergarten

Today is the last day of school. They are going to a local park and are having a picnic. It is a bittersweet day for sure. Heading to school this morning I was thinking about all of the things that he has achieved this year. He grew so much socially, some of you know our story on that. He is still a spaz but not much more so than most 6 year old boys. Though he had to sit out during recess and cool down the most of anyone during the school year. He can read at a 2nd grade level and his writing/spelling is getting really pretty good. He does basic addition and subtraction in his head. He was listing his three favorite things at school and the three worst. The favorites were: afternoon workboard, writers workshop and math. There were no worst. He truly loves school which warms our hearts. He can button his own shirts, even the tiny buttons, though this morning he had his shirt crooked. I couldn't bring it to myself to fix it. It was too precious. He does a stellar job at tying his shoes. We have won the battle on night time potty training, finally. He doesn't suck his thumb anymore except in the deepest of sleep. He lost two teeth and have three more loose ones. His 6 year molars are coming in. All-in-all he is a little boy that is getting ready to enter 1st grade.

It is a bittersweet day. Seeing how far they have come and knowing how far they have yet to go.

It's so exciting watching them mature and learn. It sounds like he has reached some major milestones this year.

I hope he enjoys his last day!

So sweet! Isn't it amazing..I look at my children and my nearly breaks each time. I cannot imagine loving them any more.

I started a journal last year to write how I was feeling and I keep saying I need to add all these other random day thoughts as well. Steph, you need to capture this on paper for when Levi leaves for college.

It is a somewhat bittersweet moment. I was sad to leave the kindergarten experience behind but excited to move forward at the same time. It is amazing how much they mature. 1st grade is even more. Henry has matured soooo much after 1st grade. It was crazy.
But it is really a ball of emotions all in one isn't it?
Along with this proud feeling too !
