I know it will vary based on location, but do kids need a physical before 1st grade? Do we still do well-checks at this age?

We don't have to have a physical for the 1st grade here. We just have to update medical information at the school. Though Cr has asthma so he has to have an Asthma Action plan on file which means a trip to the doctor to get filled out.

It is not required by the schools here. However my pedi likes to see them every year.
Yes both boys had well checks at age 6 & 7. No shots required (the first thing the boys asked! As we had them all done before kindergarten.

Not required here but Levi still gets annual physicals like DH and I. We think they are important.

Here, the doctors recommend yearly check ups which I agree, is very important. I am not sure if they are actually required by the school or not but he did get a vaccine that we were told was neccessary for kids to have entering first grade.

We do annual exams after age 3 (prior to that it was every 6 months) but the school only requires one every other year (entering K, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th).
