Was watching that show last night - thought we could join in!

What was the best food/meal you ever ate - and the circumstances surrounding it?

Mine would have to be a meal I had as a child on a trip to Hawaii.

The first night there, we got dressed up and ate at the hotel restaurant. The waiters wore white gloves and put ice in our glasses with tongs. I thought that was the coolest thing ever! Then I had fish that wasn't fried for the first time....my parents said my eyes got huge and I talked about that fish the whole trip.

(I think it was memorable because it was right before my family fell apart and the last time I remembered my parents laughing and talking together)

I don't even remember what kind of fish that was but I can still remember the buttery taste!

How about you?

Haylen

p.s. The first time I tasted bacon wrapped dates I was in heaven too!

I have had so many memoriable meals it is hard to choose. Like the first meal I had after Levi was born. I learned what a great combo Champagne and french fries make. Or the meal at a restaurant in Florence, for which the whole purpose of the trip to the city that day was to eat at this restaurant. We told the owner/chef just to feed us. We have had lovely memoriable meals in Cardiff, London, Berlin, Rome, Todelo (in Spain), Paris, NYC, Berkely and of course Chicago. I guess the best was our second trip to the French Laundry in Yountville, CA. They had just gotten in the first shipment of winter truffles, which were earthy and heavenly and the first of the season of vacherin mont d'or, a soft creamy earthy sweet cow's milk cheese. The best was at the main central table there was large group and Jacques Pepin was holding court. He is very sweet and gracious person. As you can probably tell, DH and I travel for food.

I think the food growing up so many meals. We had huge gardens and the food was so fresh. Same as meat we had cows and the steaks ect. I grow my little garden and am reminded of those great fresh foods.
A couple meals : Fish and chips in England, Crepes from a street vendor in France.
I loved my wedding meal... Lots of appetizers and it was sooo good.

So many ! I could write a book. But all in all the meal may have been great but the company of my family during the meal was the best.

Champagne and french fries - love that!

And, great family company makes any meal good....each night at dinner we go around and say our "best part of the day".

Last night my 4 year old said "It's right now - having dinner with mommy, daddy and sissy!" I could have been eating cardboard and it would have tasted good!
