    DS and Potty Training

I think DS just decided to potty train himself. He's 4, will be 5 in less than a week and wasn't potty trained, not from lack of our and grandparent's trying. Monday he was with grandma and refused to put on a diaper so he was playing in just shorts with nothing underneath. Suddenly, he ran in the house saying pee-pee and went pee in the potty chair. He did it four more times at home and even took off his diaper (I had put in on in anticipation of getting ready for bed) to go pee in the potty chair.

Yesterday I alerted his therapists he wasn't wearing a diaper but he didn't pee in his shorts at all. Despite his protests, I sat him on the regular toilet and he went. Did the same thing after his second appointment and again he went.

Unfortunately, it doesn't translate to #2 but it's a start.

DS had a gread weekend with regards to potty training. We had three birthday parties and the only accident he had was going #2 in his shorts Friday evening but he had grabbed his behind so we knew he either had to go or had gone (it was the latter).

I was impressed Saturday. We had a 90 minute drive to one birthday party and a 2 1/2 hr drive home (traffic) and he didn't wet his pull-ups once. Five minutes after we got home, he was in the bathroom using the potty.

He starts school today so we'll see how that goes.
