Our first trip in for stitches...

Of course it happened right before a holiday weekend and of course it was DD2 and of course I totally jinxed her last week when I told Haylen she was one of those lucky daredevils that defies injury. In this case, she got nipped by a dog at DS's soccer practice and needed a couple stitches near her lip and on her upper cheekbone. It was scary for everyone involved and I'm just thankful she still has a face. The damage was very minor considering the size of the dog and even the plastic surgeon noted how truely lucky this kid is.

Anyhow, she handled it pretty well until the needle came out but considering it was 6:15pm which is well past dinner and almost bedtime by the time the surgeon got to her, I was still rather impressed. I bought her a milkshake afterwards and she was alseep in the car by the time we got home. She was her normal self the next day and humbly showed off her stri-strips all weekend.

When we arrived home from the lake last night there was a sweet care package with cute little gifts for her from the family who own the pup that bit her. They feel terrible and have been nothing but terrific through the whole ordeal.

Anyone been bitten before? Did it change your reaction to dogs? She seems oblivious but who knows how she'll act when she sees another big dog?

HOW TERRIFYING!!!!! I'm not happy to welcome you to the "kids-with-stitches-club"

I only know an adult who was bitten as a child. He is very, very wary of dogs around his children but his family has a big, huge golden retriever who is a love.

(((hugs))) to you and DD!

Oh no! I hope it heals quickly.

I was bitten pretty badly by a dog in high school. I had nightmares and began to be afraid of dogs. Hopefully she'll be OK, especially since she is so young. It sounds like she's doing really well.

Oh no! I really have no experience with dog bites. DH got bit as a kid & doesn't want a Doberman as a pet (that's the kind of dog that bit him). Other than that we had a lab mix dog for 16yrs & some other kind of mixed medium sized dog for 10yrs.
