OT - Juicer
mrswhitecastle posted:
OK, so I broke down and bought ANOTHER kitchen toy. What can I say? I was caught up in the Black Friday sales.....

So, I made us apple juice. It was delicious! Better than any apple juice I have ever had, plus it was just pure apples!

I've decided to freeze the pulp. I will freeze veggie and fruit separately, and then use them later. The fruit pulp will likely end up in bread, pancakes, etc. The veggie pulp will likely end up in spaghetti sauce, meatballs, and soup.

I just wish my new toy didn't take up so much space on the counter...

Whoa! Didn't know about different ways to use pulp - creative! I've never gone the juicer route but the kids and I are totally into morning smoothies with fruit, yogurt and big handfuls of raw spinach.

How many kitchen toys do you have? What's the biggest dud? We have a bread machine that I just can't seem to find the energy to ever use...

We have a juicer, and have had it for years. We go kind of on and off with the thing. We kept the box so when we don't use it we clean it thoroughly and stick it in the box in the garage. Lately DH has been reading Dr Fuhrman books and broke it out again to make juice. Kale, apple, avocado and was all nasty. I think the juicer is headed back to the garage lol.

I'm impressed that you keep and reuse the pulp. Let us know if you have any good recipes involving that stuff!
