Okay I am struggling for gifts this year for the boys. 6 and 7 are hard ages for me. I want to get them stuff they really will use /play with.
So I am thinking a laptop computer. I have one but a lot of school websites ect for learning are on the computer. With 2 they can both use it at the same time for homework.

I also bought them stuffies (seen them advertised?). They tend to take these small toys to bed and they are all over the place. Drives me crazy. So now they can put them in their stuffie and viola he can sit on the bed with them holding all their spider man ect.

So that is it !
Here are their interests: Tre has devolped a love for football (much to my chagrin...I do not want a football player as a mom), he loves science rocks, nature. Also video games (much to my chagrin). He also adores art and makes all kinds of things.
Henry- He loves legos (wish I could get them organized better!), video games, reading (so like he has this love)...so book recommendations for 2nd grader needed, superheros....

I look at the toys and they look boring to me for this age and age 8...seems like all they do is push video games. I want them to get away from video games. Their imaginations are much more fun !

I agree that this 7-8 age range is tough. At least with girls, I can always fall back on Barbies. It does seem like video games and electronic gadgets are being pushed for this age. I'm trying to stay as far away for as long as possible.

The only suggestion I have is board games. The good thing about this age is that they can start playing better games. (Maybe we can finally graduate from Candy Land!) The girls are really into playing Battleship lately. I'm thinking about trying them out on Uno and Uno Attack. One of the good things about having kids close in age is that they should be able to play games together.

Legos and any other building toy like magna tiles, marble tracks (Quadrilla), zoobs, architectual building blocks are still strong in our house. Levi can spend hours with any of these spinning out all kinds of stories. Hot Wheel wall tracks are pretty cool. Hex bugs and their tracks are popular as well.

Santa is bringing an Arbor mini pocket rocket skateboard with safety gear.

I'm getting him some additional Quadrilla sets for his Quadrilla marble track.

DH is getting him the Lego Tower Bridge set.

Levi wants Santa to bring a Nerf gun, I got him a small one that will fit in his stocking. Other stocking items are jacks and pickup sticks, silly putty, and extra Nerf bullets. I want one other thing plus I'll add some candy.

As for video games, he only has a few educational driven ones on his ipad and those are for travel only. He is pushing back but we just push back harder.

My 7-year old loves to build so he always asks Santa for Legos. This year he's asked for the Mine set and the Winter Village. He also still enjoys his Hot Wheel track and Matchbox playsets (him and his little sister play for hours with these on the road rug in his room). Last year he got a Kynex roller coaster thing, which is still up, a marble track and some building block sets to make the great pyrimid and colleseum.

Him also loves to play card and board games like: Apples to Apples, UNO, Skip-Bo, Battleship, Creationary and Clue, put together puzzles and play with a Rubix cube, which is the "it" thing at his school right now.

His favotite books right now are the A-Z Mysteries, the Diary of a Whimpy Kid books and the small series with that starts with Mrs Dole is Out of Control (or something like that).

Hope this helps. I actually like buying for this age as it seems like the stuff is so much more purposeful.

Ryder really wants a Wii with Skylanders this year. That's what he put in his letter to Santa. I got the Skylander's for 1/2 off during the Walmart Black Friday deals. We got the Wii from Craigslist.I just need to clean it up. Plus, my SIL is giving us some Wii stuff that they don't use anymore. He is still really into playing with his Imaginext castle from a couple years ago and wants the new Ogre and Dragon that came out this year. Thinking this might be a grandparent gift.

When people ask what Ryleigh wants for Christmas I say anything in the "pink isle". She walks down the girl isles and just points to everything and says "I have". So she'll be easy to get for.
