Congrats! What a big accomplishment.

We got there about 9 months ago just as DD2 turned 4 and had a special dinner "party" to celebrate the milestone. We made a big deal out of learning to ride with each of the kids but this one was bittersweet for DH and I. They're growing up to fast...

What method did you use to teacher your kids? We tried holding on to the back and running with him but that is backbreaking lol and we bought a bar to put on the back which works ok but it's hard when they rely too much on you to keep them steady.

When I was a kid, we took one training wheel off and relied on the one wheel if husband doesn't buy it though!

I think it would be interesting to hear the different ways everyone taught their kids. We are turning 6 on Friday and still using training wheels!

Congrats!! I know it is a bittersweet moment. I'm hoping that teaching them to drive is easier. Next year Olivia can get her license so I'll let you know then.

We left their training wheels on until they were pretty bent up. Then we just raised them so that they were still on but they would have to lean to the side to use them. After a few months of that we took them off and they were riding by themselves. Also my kids learned to ride in the yard as opposed to the street. Not sure if that makes any difference or not.
