    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

p.s. NORAD is the North American Aerospace Defense Command - doesn't sound like a very "warm & fuzzy" office so it makes this even more awesome....

I heard it started by accident. There was a phone number so kids could talk to santa and it was misprinted. A child called and whomever answered the phone was nice enough to play along and told his staff to let the kids who called know where santa was.

We love this. Found it last year. Since it was so "offical" sounding Jacob really thought about weather or not there is santa clause. I like the back story on it.

Had to look up kittycat's thoughts about how it started:

    From Wikipedia :

The program began on December 24, 1955 when a Sears department store placed an advertisement in a Colorado Springs newspaper which told children that they could telephone Santa Claus and included a number for them to call. However, the telephone number printed was incorrect and calls instead came through to Colorado Springs' Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Center. Colonel Shoup, who was on duty that night, told his staff to give all children that called in a "current location" for Santa Claus. A tradition began which continued when the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) replaced CONAD in 1958.

    So cool!

I love the fact that the man in charge told his staff what to tell the children. He could have been a total Scrooge but he wasn't.
