Kindergarten registration
cyn22mull posted:

We have Kindergarten registration next Friday. I was just wondering what to expect? It says it is from 8:30 — 1:00 and to bring birth certificate, proof of residency, immunization record, a $25 registration fee, and your child for screening. What all screening will they do?

Cindy 36, DH 40, DS 4

Our screening and registration were at 2 different times. If I remember correctly, they did a quick vision and hearing screening. They also asked her some questions to see if she could identify body parts, knew the 5 senses, and could complete some sentences with the appropriate word(s). I had to wait in the waiting area while they did the screening with DD. When they were done, the teacher reviewed everything with me.

In our state Kindergarten screening is done between 3 1/2 - 4 year of age. This way if there is an issue it can be worked on before school starts. We had my DD screened last summer. I got to watch. They tested hearing, vision, langugage development, phyisical development. It was pretty detailed. But DD had fun! She has a November birthday so will have to wait until 2014 to start school. She is already looking forward to it. We just signed her up for pre-school to start next fall.
