Lost and Found at school
iocasta posted:
Levi lost one of his winter hats at school the other day so we took a look at the three locations for lost and found items. They were full of winter stuff and I don't mean small items like mittens but coats, sweaters . . . How do you lose a coat in the winter in Chicago??? At the end of the year, all of the stuff gets donated but I still. We never found the hat. Of course, I had no intention of digging through all of the lost items.

Yeah a coat in Chicago in the winter is pretty important. What always amazed me where do you lose a shoe and not know it?!? I've seen this in parking lots, like seriously someone was walking and their shoe fell off and they didn't notice?!? So weird! To be honest, as a kid/teen if the item was large/expensive I never looked in those bins b/c there were weird items in there...underware, seriously just toss it!

I know weird huh? The boys did leave sweatshirts ect and I have found them when it is cold/warm ect.
But I hate digging through them. I buy cheap Walmart/hats /gloves that way if they are lost it isn't that bad ..

I had a similar experience the other day! My son left a book at child care the other day so two days later I thought I'd look through the two large boxes they use. EVERYTHING was in there from jackets to hats to pants, everything. And it smelled!!! Ilooked through for like 30 sec and then decided to just ask the after care ladies who knew exactly where it was on a shelf lol.

I live near a school and have seen sweaters & jackets left on benches or on the ground. I suppose it's possible the person who meets them after school is different than the person who sends them to school but you'd think someone would notice if they came home without a jacket after going to school with one.

I work for a school district so I"m always in all the schools from elementary to high school and it amazes me the things kids leave behind. As a parent I certainly don't want to be buying my kid a new winter coat every few weeks b/c he leaves it at school and we're to lazy to go look for it. There are bins just over flowing and racks filled with lost items.

Ryder has left his lunch box and hoodie and I make him look for it every day till he brings it home. He always finds it.
