Well, it's nothing fun or inventive, but it has worked. Each night we go through the list and have her write them out. Boring, I know. She likes it a little more, though, because we let her write the words in a special notebook/diary type thing.

Our school doesn't actually do spelling tests. We still have a list of spelling words every week, though. The kids are just expected to know and spell the words correctly in their usual writing.

HA! That's exactly what we've been doing. I spoke to the teacher about the words and she said she chose the hard ones this week that have no rules that they will need to know by the end of the year. She promised next week they would be more simple and follow patterns. We shall see......

I know I've posted this before, but I bought a little stick-on flower that has a coating so you can use it like a chalk board. (dry-erase would work too). I stuck it on the pantry door and every week I write all of DD's spelling words on it. Then when we are eating or hanging out we can quiz her, or she can sit at the table and copy them out for practice.

I do remember you telling about that before! Thank you for explaining again. I have to say, after that horrible week of crazy spelling words (he got 4 out 12), they have been MUCH MUCH more reasonable! Thankfully!
