Anyone?

My son is 4 1/2 months old weighs 17 lbs and I am having the same problem. He really isn't chubby but he is tall for his age. He's even taller than his cousin that is a month older than him. Anyways his penis keeps tucking into the pulled back part of the skin so far back that you can hardly see the head of his penis. This just started happening and was wondering if this is normal or should a get in touch with a doctor. My son doesn't have any rolls, (except his chubby legs) but the doctor said he had a fat pack above the area of the penis but that doesn't even roll over the penis. I keep poking the head of his penis out but the next diaper change it is tucked in again. Help Please.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. My son's fat pack doesn't roll over his penis either. I noticed that when I'm changing his diaper that when he brings his legs up his penis completely disappears. I have heard of men with hidden penis's and it really scares me. I don't want my son growing up with this. I really would like more info if anyone can help me or star-rider69.

my son doesn't even curl/lift up his legs to hid his penis. I will just find it tucked in during each diaper change and then I will pull back the skin to expose the head so that the skin doesn't grow back over it over time. I did find out that today he was able to push it back out when it is tucked in ( I opened up his diaper it was tucked in and he did something while I was changing his diaper that pushed it back out of the skin).

well I guess we arent' going to find any info here. I did mention it to the DR. at his 4 month check up and she told me just to pull the skin back when I bathe him so the skin doesn't reattach. Like you said.Well keep me posted if anything changes and I wil with you also. I hope it's just the "fat sack" and he will grow out of it. I can't bare to think My son might have a hidden penis the rest of his life.

I have to answer your concerns due to my son had the same condition. My son was born with congenital hidden penis 7 years ago. Unusually large fat pad, penis retracted into body, he was circed at birth, he had no weight issues. I was also told he would out grow it by several peds & a few urologist. I took him across county to several specialist searching for reality and the truth. At four years of age he was still hidden and common sense told me he was not going to outgrow this even in puberty. The problem is most urologist don't know how to fix the problem and most have little if any experience with this condition! On a scale of 1 to 10 how hidden is the penis? You must consider this. My son was an 8 with 10 being completely hidden. After 7 years of investigating, researching every single articl and journel I could get my hands on, I FINALLY found someone who did address the problem and was open about the condition. I was able to view this surgeon's past post surgical results of other boys he had corrected with this conditon, the results were wonderful and the little boys looked normal post surgical. My son had the surgery to correct the problem just two days ago. He is healing well and now his penis is outside of his body. If I can offer you some real true advice from 7 years of research and the serach for answers; you need to address this issue now. Don't allow your son to grow up with this problem. If he is more than 50% hidden then do something now. I have learned of many men who have the condition and went through hell growing up due to their parents did not know how to have this corrected or who to go to. Most peds just DON"T GET IT!!! The doctor I took my son to is Dr. Gary Alter located in Beverly Hills. There are only 5 board certified plastic surgeons who are also board certified urologist..Dr. Alter is one of them. He is the genital expert and he corrects hidden penis only a weekly to monthly basis. He has wrtiien many articles in the urology journals...he is the best! I founf myself frustrated going to all the other physicians with my son in hand, and hearing the same story..he would outgrow it. If so?..then why are so many grown men out here with the conditon going to see my son's doctor for the procedure? For anyone who has a child with this conditon that needs some guidance and help I would be glad to answer all I have learned about the problem..my mail is teramcdanielroy@yahoo.com...the information is difficult to find..answers are hard to come by...I wish you the best....I suggest having the surgery for your child before he is 10 years old...most doctors just DON'T get it...the condition is rare..finding the answers are also rare. I want to make sure you have been given answers. My email is with aol now teraroyalexroy@aol.com My son had surgery last month, has healed well and looks like a perfect little normal penis now. I would recommend having this procedure done. I am so glad I had my son corrected and did not wait until he went through puberty. Here is a question I want all parents who are told it will self corret to ask themselves. If it will self correct then why are adult men seeking out help to have it corrected? I your son has a completely buried penis or the head of his penis just peaks out...this is likely not to self correct. The penis shaft skin is too loosly connected and no matter how large the penis grows after puberty, it will still slide inside the body. I am a parent who went through years of research and dragged my child across country trying to find the reality of his penile retration condition...most surgeons don't know there is a corrective surgery and don't know how to go about correcting it, thus they apss it off and tell you the child will out grow it when he reaches puberty.

found u while i wa doing more reseach about hidden/buried penis disease. I'm at this stand point my son was 18lbs. at 4 mths and after he was healedfromhis circumcision hus penis retracted to look like a belly button for say. they told it was because of his fat pad it would begone by the time he was 3. well 3 has come and no change and he's not chubby, but asked daddy why his penis isn't like his. AN fromeverything I can find out about it depending on the degree of retraction is the problem with the penis. it can be from incorrectly attached skin, a disease, to a overzealous circumcision. an I just sat back and waited like the doctor said, now regretting it. because by the time he was 1 he wasn't fat/chubby anymore. My son has problem an his doctor says just wait. my experience suggest that dependig on how retracted his penis is, is to how fast i would seek a urologist opinion. but definately if no progress by 1. also my son penis has not progressed in size. check out this web site it is informing emedicine.medscape.com/article/442617-overview

OK, so i found this doing research on Hidden Penis, my son is 19 months old and will be having surgery in a week to correct his "concealed penis" i am so nervous, but my son's pediatrician was the one who referred us to a urologist in St.Louis, Mo (were we live) The dr originally said that we would "wait it out" to see if it fixed itself, unfortunately it didn't, so now a year later here we are.

Can I get the name of the urologist? I live close to St Louis and would like to get the opinion of someone who has seen this sort of thing before. My sons ped keeps assuring me everything will be fine but from years of nursing Ive learned that sometimes following your gut is best. if you wouldn't mind emailing it to me jbartilotta@hotmail.com

I can't recommend a specific urologist-- but this sort of procedure is well-within the scope of what any qualified PEDIATRIC urologist can handle. Any good-sized city will have pediatric urologists, or you can look on the faculty list of your closest medical school. It certainly makes sense to at least visit with a ped urologist for his or her opinion. For this issue, I recommend working with a ped urologist, not a general adult urologist, who may not have much experience with this issue.

Hello - my 2 YO was recently diagnosed with an undescended testicle caused by a small hernia. When this was corrected, he was also circumcised. After the circumcision, his penis retracted. We were initially told after the surgery to push down the skin around his penis, but today - at our follow up visit - we were told he would need surgery to correct the problem. Anyone have any good resources outlining what the surgery will entail and how long the recovery period will be?
