Dangers of Dishwasher Residue?

blackatom posted:
Dishwasher residue seems to be a big problem, especially with plastics. Residue seems to stick to plastics more than anything else. I was wondering if any research is going on to find out the dangers of ingested residue to children. What happens if they get this stuff in their system? Are there any long term effects from continuous ingestion? This would be good information to know. Anyone know?

theres not really a lot of research on ingesting the residue thats left on plastics. it also depends on how much residue is on the plastic. infants can get burns on thier esophagus from ingesting detergent residue depending on the detergents toxicity and they would probably have to have ingested a lot than whats left on the bottle. if it still makes you worried there is detergent that is non toxic and safe called Method Smarty Dish. its available on diapers.com and i think its also at target.

Hi BlackAtom

I am doing some research into the relationship between IBS and ingesting non-food residual toxins from household cleaning products. I have come across some research which suggests a link between these toxins on Alzheimers, Leukaemia and Parkinson but not IBS. There seems to be very little, if any, research into this and I wondered if you had heard of anything? Many thanks, Rachel, Bristol, England.

hi An_221831

I meant to direct my post to you rather than Black Atom. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Best regards, Rachel
