Urinary frequency
Tammysuep posted:
My five year old daughter has this often discussed urinary frequency. However she only has it when laying down at night to go to bed. She is really tired but has to go pee every 5 minutes until she falls asleep. This can take a long time with many frustrating bathroom trips. She will cry if i try to make her wait. She feels like she is going to pee on herself. This does not happen every night. Only about 1-2 times per week and only at night. She does not hold her urine or bowels during the day. She too gas had a normal urine screen. Any suggestions?
Roy Benaroch, MD responded:
This has a very strong behavioral component-- only happening at bedtime really weighs against any sort of physical problem.

Why not just let her go use the bathroom as often as she wishes near bedtime? Give her a kiss, say goodnight, and leave. Then let her take care of her own bathroom trips.
