elevated cpk level
jasper1 posted:
Just searching for some insight. For the last year my CPK level has been elevated over 1300- 1400 every month. I had foot surgery about two weeks ago and my CPK level is at 2100. My rheumatologist is dumbfounded because physically I dont show signs of muscle weakness. I have had an normal EMG, normal echocardiogram and a muscle biopsy. I currently take 20 mg of methotrexate once a week and 10 mg of Prednisone daily. I do experience muscle pain and I have been diagnosed with a mixed connective tissue disease. However the CPK level is extreme and distrubing. Does anyone have any insight?

I don't think this is the best place to post your question, jasper. This is a parenting board for parents to talk about things involving their children. There are probably better places on WebMD to talk about mixed connective tissue disease.

BTW, both methotrexate and prednisone can raise CPK. I'm not an adult doc and I don't treat MCTD, so I'm not sure I can personally offer much more insight.

Best of luck!
