thirsty baby

At what age can you give your baby water?

I asked that same question when my son was born 16.5 years ago. I was told to give him water from the start. Formula has water in it, but the body has to break it down to get it. The doctor and nurses told us start with a little and use only distilled/bottled water for babies. Same temp as formula or room temp.

how much and how often i can give him water?
fcl responded:
Why do you want to give your baby water? Generally speaking, breastmilk and formula have what is needed to hydrate her/him. In any case, the baby should be at least 6 months old. Here's an article that explains what you should think about before doing so:

PS - is your baby formula fed? If there are signs of thirst, perhaps you are not adding the correct quantity of water ...?
