my son is a highly active 10 year old. he compeats in travel hockey on a high level. they practice 3-4 times a week, 45 game season, and they play all year. he lives for hockey. my son has a very hard time eating. 3 to 4 times a week he will be in bed with a stomach ache, complaing of feeling like he is going to vomit, headaces to the point it brings him to tears. he bearly eats. with how active he is i cant belive he even has the energy to get out of bed in the morning. he was at 75lbs last year and is now at 70lbs. a typical breakfest is 4 spoon full of cereal. at Mcdonalds he eats 4 chicken nuggets no fries.(which i dont think is a bad thing to not eat there but its his favorite place to eat). after a hockey game he wont be able to lift his head off a table he is so worn out. i am about to pull him out of hockey in fear that his body isnt getting the nutrition it needs to play. hes been to the doctor several times but the dr. says not to worry unless he starts to lose weight. he put him on prilosec but that hasnt changed anything. other kids his age will eat 3 slices of pizza, or a full sub. my son somtimes wont eat at all for dinner. says he feels to sick to eat then goes up and goes to bed. im getting very nervous since he hasnt put on any weight in over a year. could he be doing harm to himself? the dr. says he not mal-nutritioned. yet its getting tough, we go some where as a family and one of us has has to stay in the car with him because he is to sick to go in. we go to a resturant and he will go out to the car or curl up on the seat because he doesnt feel good enough to eat. we have tried eliminating different foods, but that doesnt seem to make a difference. what are we missing? should the dr be more concerned

Did the Dr. run a bunch of tests??

How about taking your son to a GI Dr. ?? I'm sure you could get more answers there. There are Pediatric Gastroenterologist, so I would do some research and find one near you.

It could be a food allergy, or celiacs disease - it could be a lot of things, and I think you need a specialist to figure this out.

Take care, and I hope you find some answers!
