A good mother, is one that protects her child - - this boyfriend doesn't sound like a keeper in my book......unless he's willing to learn how to effectively discipline without hitting/spanking.

Spanking is NOT ok.

If your son has behavioral issues, a parenting class would be super helpful - your boyfriend should go with you if he loves your son and wants to be a positive influence in his life.

Take care,

I don't think a parent's style of teaching makes them a bad or good parent. It's a personal choice. I agree with PP that a parenting class is a good idea. It can help you with any behavioral issues your son may have.

First of all, you are NOT a bad mother. Perhaps you should let your boyfriend read http://blogs.webmd.com/child-health-411/2010/04/spanking-gets-you-nowhere.html Spanking should never be your go-to punishment!
