I am a 43 year old Mom of 2, a just turned 3 yr old daughter and my oldest just turned 7 and has Asperger's Syndrome. On Friday I had a miscarriage (13 wks, 1day), which was honestly the most blood I have ever seen myself, I thought I was bleeding to death. Unfortunately, my children happened to see it as well.

They were never told about the pregnancy due to my age, I wanted to wait until after the amnio before I told them.

Now my 7 yr old (Asperger's Syndrome now in full swing as to the obsessing) is freaked and wont stop talking about it. I don't know how to tell him about what it was that he saw. Can any one help me? PLEASE!

Is he in any type therapeutic program? If so, ask them for guidance. Also, I think simply saying you were ill and the bleeding was a symptom, is explanation enough, or however else you explain big stuff to your son. That you were pregnant doesn't play into the explanation unless you want it to. If you sliced your finger with a giant butcher knife and were bleeding profusely from your hand, you probably wouldn't go into every minute detail, nor show the gorey site, you'd just say you cut your finger and were really bleeding, that you went to the doctor for treatment and you're just fine. If your child kept asking, I'd just redirect. I know it is easier said than done. I also have a child who obsesses over big events (and small). Have you posted this on a special needs board? Maybe someone has been in your shoes more similarly than I and can offer you more helpful support. Good luck. I'm so sorry for your loss and the memories made for you and your kids. Take care of yourself, mama.
