My son is about to turn 12 and last night in the middle of his baseball game he urinated himself while in the field playing. This has never happened before so its not a reoccuring problem or anything like that. He said he didn't even have to go and he couldn't stop the process after it started which he can normally do. He said it just came out he didn't feel it coming or anything. I don't understand what's going on, I didn't even have this happen when he was being potty trained. I was wondering if it has to do with pueberty or do i need to take him to the docter for like overactive bladder or something. He has alot of friends and i don't want something to happen at school or at practice or another game for him to get embarassed luckily everyone was so into the game they didn't relize what happened. Can someone help me?

Definitely take him to the doctor immediately. I don't think overactive bladder but anything out of the norm like that needs to be checked out. It could be a number of serious conditions. (or maybe just a one time thing-but better safe than sorry)

I know this is kind of late, but did anything ever come of this? My son just had the same experience at school and he went to the nurse and she said she keeps spare pants there because the problem happens more often than we would think. (He's 14 and hasn't had an accident since he was 3).
