    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

All you need to tell him is thqat masturbating is an activity that he should only be doing in private (presumably the computer is in a public area in your home). If the photos he is using are porn then you need to install a "parental" control type of software so he can't reach them.

Just remember that masturbation is a perfectly normal, healthy activity

Hi there~I just caught your post and I wanted to let you know you're not alone in your confusion about how to respond to this! I'm with Focus on the Family and I've heard from lots of others moms and dads who have shared similar concerns. But, I think it's great you're open to addressing this with your son.

And, in case you're still looking for some input, I wanted to mention a link I found that addressed a very similar situation. And, like FCL shared, depending on the reasons for it, masturbation isn't something to be overly worried about. But it is definitely something to be done in private!

However, I do think there's cause for concern that your son may be viewing inappropriate material on the Interent. So, I'd definitely second the suggestion to look into parental controls. Unfortunately, it's way to easy for kids to stumble upon pornography these days. And, there's tons of options out there, but I've heard that Bsecure is a good filtering program. So, just FYI!

Well, hang in there! I know raising a son on your own isn't easy, but it sounds like you're a great mom!
