Too Many Meds For a Child?
    An_244722 posted:
A child whom is an 11 yr old boy is currently taking Sertraline, Trazodone, Vyanse, and Risperidone. I have researched what all the drugs are for....but is it safe for him to take all? This child is not ours or in our custody. But, he is on our medical insurance and we get updates on his medical visits and his medications. I am just concerned.

I am assuming this boy is some sort of relation to you, or he wouldn't be on your insurance..??

How does this boy behave? Does he see his psychiatrist regularly?

I think it depends how he is doing mentally/behaviorally. Obviously before meds, he was having a difficult time - is he doing a lot better now?

If possible, you could go talk to his psychiatrist who may help you understand why he needs 4-medications to stabilize him.

You would need to talk to the child's doctor. My 8YO at one time has taken all of these meds and 3 of the list at the same time. My 8YO takes 4 different meds to stabilize him so he can function. If he doesn't take his meds we know it. For him he has to have a combination or he isn't stabilzed.
