I went to Lowes to pick up a few things. I was in the self check out and the Lowes worker there started talking with me. Somehow we got on the topic of Walmart. (My children were not with me at the time both are bi racial black/white). So she proceeds to tell me she doesn't go to Walmart anymore. Me thinking maybe prices/crowds ect. No guess what she says... drum roll....................
She says "There are too many black people there.".
I was so shocked I didn't know how to respond. So I said well for me there location isn't close to me.
I am simply shocked and so sad that some day my children will experience racism.
I thought about reporting her to management. I really do not know what to do..as it totally took me off guard and I typically am more vocal.

That is so horrible! I am sorry you had to experience that. I am like you, I always come up with the perfect comebacks after the fact but can never think of what to say at the time. I think you should report her to management. She needs to be told that her behavior is unacceptable. People can be so hateful.

That is pretty outrageous and ignorant on her part. Sad that exists in 2010.
