Baby hair care

So DD is white and black and she has curly hair, but the back of her hair gets really tangled. I have tried johnsons shampoo and conditioner in one, johnson's leave in conditioner and the detangler spray, but I cannot seem to find a combo that keeps the hair on the back of her head from getting tangled so bad. It probably takes me about 10 minutes each night to comb out the tangles. and its only about a 3 inch section of hair. She is only 6 months so I am lloking for something that is tear free too. Any suggestions?

My oldest has super curly hair where as my younger has a combo of everything. (My mom being a hairdresser) bought us some Paul Mitchell baby no tears. I found it works wonders!
I also use "Pink" found in any stores Walmart, Target ect. I use the light after they are out of the tub and put it in. It helps keep the hair moist and less tangles.
I have also used an Avon product called Mark (hair smoother)...I think that is what it is called which works well too!

Ok, so DD does not have a ton of hair at this point, especially in the back! I have only noticed it get slightly tangled at times (nothing a little picking with the comb can't fix. She has loose curls and I don't think they are exceptionally dry or anything. However, she is often itching her scalp so now after reading wwilson89's response I am wondering if she is dry on her scalp. She still has some cradle cap up top but her pedi thought this would go away with time. This may be a really dumb question, but how do I know if she has dry hair, would it be obvious? Thanks!

LOL, my son's hair texture was fine around the sides, but the back was a wooly mess from sleeping on his back. I couldn't wait for him to turn one so we could chop it all off. He had this massively thick afro with about three different hair textures. I'm glad he's a boy b/c I didn't want to fight with that mess on a regular basis.
Heather, you would be able to tell if it's dry. It won't feel soft, but just course and kind of crunchy. African americans don't produce as much oil from their scalps (i.e. why we don't have to wash our hair everyday whereas my white friends are complaining of greasy hair if they don't) so we use moisturizers and oils for our scalps.

Oh I just wanted to add something. With cradle cap my son had it bad. We finally used some of his Daddy's hair product called "Hair Food" with Vitamin E in it. It cleared his scalp within a couple days.
