Thanks for the article. I really like how it highlights hair care products that are free of chemicals. DD has eczema so we have tried to stay away from anything that might irritate that. I am a little overwhelmed after reading it though and wonder if I am not doing enough for DD's hair/scalp. Do any of you use olive oil regularly on their scalp? Does this make their hair greasy? I use vaseline on DD's face and sometimes it gets in her hair. I will be more careful with it now though.

One thing I did want to mention though is if you make the homemade shampoo and you have a LO under age 1, be very careful. Honey can be very dangerous as it can give your LO botulism. I am not sure if that is only if it is ingested or what, but I would keep it away from any baby under 1 year. Thanks again for posting this!

I think the botulism risk is only if they eat it, but I'm no pediatrician so don't take my word for it!

I use olive oil on my hair and scalp daily and we moisturize DS's hair every morning and before he goes to bed. It doesn't make it greasy b/c it's a light moisturizer and not really thick. Plus, if the hair's texture leans more towards her "black" side, it will drink up the moisture.
