Parkinson's in Prime Time - Michael J. Fox

From the New York Times: A new regimen of drugs has helped actor Michael J. Fox manage his Parkinson's and he has decided to return to series television. Parkinson's will be written into the script.

NBC announced on Monday night that it had won the bidding war for a sitcom that will star Mr. Fox in a role "loosely drawn," it said, from his real life.

There isn't much information on the show so it is hard to say. I doubt it will cover all areas affected by Parkinson. The loss of speech, memory to metion a couple
Due to the new health care law I think the advancements in research on Parkinson and other diseases will come to a stand still. The money will go to care for those with out dibilitating diseases

I sure hope so...it's a start in the right direction. A lot of these kinds of shows focus on removing stereotypes, easing discomfort, clear up the negative misinformation that permeates our culture in terms of health issue. Hopefully it will help to remove the stigma of those who tremor, shuffle, etc in public--
American TV--it's the great equalizer and "teacher" of our diverse population.

If anything, it will make the asinine remarks of the ill-informed media has-been Limbaugh more of a laughing stock and less influential since his horrible remarks about Micheal J Fox.
