How do I know it Parkinson's or something else?
booandpa1 posted:
My Grandmother and all 4 of her brothers were diagnosed with Parkinsons during the 60's & 70's but they all passed from strokes. I will be 50 in Feb. and have a lot of medical problems. Granny had 6 girls and 1 son and none of them have been diagnosed but they have close cousins who have.
I don't have tremors persay but have noticed over past 2 years that i would be sitting resting and all of a sudden my legs or hands will jump for no reason. I have been diagnosed with restless leg syndrome and have fallen a lot over the past 2 years but one of my Doctors blames it on hip and lower back problems. I am now concerned with Parkinsons.
Tell me how to discuss this with my Doctors.

On your next appointment tell the doctors what you have said here. Tell them of your fears. Research the web and learn about parkinson. If you still feel like you may have parkinson ask for a referral to a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. If nothing else this should give you piece of mind.
