Hello, I was seeing my Gp and he noticed I have a Balance problem. I can't do that drunk test with out falling or do the other drunk test tilting my head back and closeing my eyes and touching my finger to my nose. I don't get past the tilting my head back before falling. But he had me walk on my toes and I could do it perty well. but when i tried to walk on my heels I fall over backwards if I don't lean foreward and when I do lean foreward I stiil can't do it without falling, he says he thinks it's PD.Can he really know that just from these simple tests?

Hi, Anon_157363
It is hard to know how your physician came to a diagnosis from the examination you describe. I look for the presence of tremor and difficulty with performing rapid movements - like finger tapping or opening and closing the hand. If these are slow - or one side is worse than the other, I will look for "rigidity" or a stiffness of the limbs. I will then look at walking and balance, but this symptom usually comes later than the others.

I would suggest asking your doctor about these, and whether you should see a neurologist.
