I'm glad to know this type of research is being done. It sounds very promising.

This is the best news I have heard on PD. My symptons are very mild and now the neurologist is beginning to doubt that I have PD. He gave me some medication for "essential tremors" which is evidentally different than the PD tremors. I am taking requip and thought that it was doing very well with the PD symptoms. I would really like to know for sure if I do have PD. When is this test going to be available?

From the article:

"It sounds feasible and probably worth pursuing," says M. Flint Beal, MD, the Anne Parrish Titzell professor of neurology and neuroscience at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He also reviewed the findings. He is also developing an early blood test for Parkinson's disease that uses a different approach.

It sounds like the test has not been developed yet. I'm not sure how long it takes for a test to become standard but I would guess it is quite a while off!

I am in the same boat as you. I have been told i have essential tremors and the solution was blood pressure medicine which I am hesitant in taking since my blood pressure is fine. My mother has parkinsons and I have alot of teh same early symptoms that she had but for now the dr says it is not parkinsons. I would be very interested in hearing about soem of your early sympotms to see how they compare to mine.
