Does anyone know of a good place to get their dog's teeth cleaned without anesthesia? I live in California in the Pasadena area.

Thanks for the help!

Will Draper, DVM responded:
Taurino- don't know of any vet that would do this...almost impossible to clean a dog's teeth without anesthesia. They have their teeth cleaned just as we do...with an ultrasonic scaler and polisher. Dogs just don't understand that action, and will react to it...and that can harm the handler, the dog, or the equipment. And, even if a dog allowed us to clean the outer surface of the teeth, you couldn't get the inner surface done...they just wouldn't allow it without biting down. Anesthesia is the safest option for all involved. All the best to you.
