Our 7 year old male beagle exibited strange symptoms for the 2nd time recently. It lasted both times about 1/2 hour. First time was while walking him a month or so ago. 2nd time was last night in the house. He repeatedly stretches his legs (as if he just woke up) and continually licks his chops. Last night he barked repeatedly (not an agressive type bark) He was very nervous and couldnt stay still. After a half hour or so, he calmed down and went to sleep. He is fine now. Any thoughts?

I've never been on this board before but when I saw your post, I felt I should respond. I had a beagle and he developed seizures around 3yrs old. Though your dogs symptoms are different than my dogs had been, it still might have been a form of seizure activity with the leg movement and the drooling.

If this were my dog, and this was the 2nd time this happened, I would get him dog to the vet. I was told that beagles do tend to suffer from seizures. That being said, my dog lived on Phenobarb(a very cheap med from the pharmacy NOT the vet) and lived to be almost 15yrs old. Much good luck to you and good health to your beautiful beagle.
