My cat is 6-7 months old and today shes walking very low to the ground. She's always active but today she is just laying around and making quiet meowing sounds. I'm not sure if this is relevant but about 3 days ago her stomach was bulging. i assumed she gained wieght but now the bulging is gone. please help. We're going to try to take her to the vet tomorrow.

AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
Drew Weigner, DVM, ABVP responded:
If your cat is eating well and has not yet been spayed, she may be in heat. Cats in heat are more vocal and sometimes walk low to the ground, with their tail up. They often roll on the ground and become more affectionate as well. If this sounds like your cat, she needs to be spayed as soon as possible. Make very sure she doesn't get outside, or you'll end up having more than one cat!
