hi, I have 2 small pups (under 3 lbs each). Is it ok to give them 1/2 heartworm meds each since the weight states for dogs 2-10 lbs. This would be for interceptor. Their full weight is expected to be < 6 lbs. thanks

Heartworm preventative is not made to be split. The actual medication is not distributed evenly in the tablets and, in extreme cases, you could be giving one dog all of the medication and the other absolutely nothing, meaning he wouldn't be covered for that month.

The other important note is, if one of your pups does become infected with heartworms, the company will cover most or all of the treatment ONLY if the product was used correctly and consistently as verified by your veterinarian. If you split the tablets, the company will declare you didn't use it correctly and you're footing the bill for the entire treatment (this can run as much as $700!).
