Silly question/observation?

This is a bit of a silly question or observation but for the last 4 years that we've had our cat, every time I've washed my car and it's clean and sparkly, the next day I wake up to the entire front hood and roof of the car covered with cat tracks! Of course when it's dirty, he doesn't seem as interested in leaving his little pawn prints behind. The pawn prints always have some fur as well as soil and we've caught him napping on top of the car the next morning too.

Is my cat being especially naughty or is he just attracted to clean, shiny surfaces? I know it's a silly question but I was just wondering if it's normal behavior.
