My dog ( 7 year old terrier mix) otherwise healthy until recently, when what appeared to be a hot spot appeared. It quickly turned into her chewing her paws, nail bed and constant licking, depression, and lethargy.Took her to vet right away, had every test under the sun done-NO diagnosis. Was given STEROIDS and ANTIBIOTICS- which have not helped, am thinking it is a yeast infection, put her on grain free food, stopped antibiotics, steroids, started giving her daily baths with vinegar.peroxide mixture, and rubbing coconut oil on her. Giving her probiotics twice a day, her paws are still terribly inflamed. THis all began on August 2.
Brought back to vet, vet still has no idea gave her a new med (Ketoconazole) and a wash to bathe her in, the vet did skin scrappings that showed positive for staphylococcus, panioea, and leclercia
vet did extra thyroid test which she said was a little low but she didn't think it was her thyroid. Over $1000 so far and counting and still no relief. Dog shakes in am and pm. I weaned her off the steroid as vet explained, but she still has these shaking episodes especially after we bahe her. I just don't want my dog in pain, and am so frustrated, does this sound like a normal yeast infection in dogs???? Please help!
