Can anyone tell what this is? Cat is about 6 months old, active, eats, drinks plenty. It does not seem to bother him at all. Is there something I can but without a prescription by a vet. About 2 months ago I took him to a vet for an upper respiratory infection. Which was cleared very fast with the medicine prescribed. I really can't afford another vet visit right now.

any info is appreciated thank you.

There are many things that can cause this type of hair loss. Fleas, fungal infections, hypersensitivities, etc. are all possible. If he's not losing more hair and it doesn't bother him, you can elect not to treat it at this time. But if it's getting worse or if skin lesions develop (scabs, etc.), or if it's bothering him, he needs to see your veterinarian.
