a week ago my friend's dog had a litter of puppies, all together 10, the third one that came out was about half the size of the first two. The mother pup left the puppy off on the side and was only licking the other two. my friend took him and we rubbed him vigourously to stimulate a response, I took him home and as soon as he got warm enough he was fine, breathing moving around and crying for food. He gets fed puppy formula, goes to pee without a problem. i had a box for him with socks filled with rice warmed up. He was doing great, as of last night we feel he's dehydrated, he pooped eraly this morning but nothing since. i ve never taken care of a newborn before and am worried that iam doing something wrong. also from the very beginning hes had breathing problems, what should i do

I'm sure others on here will have some suggestions, and there are resources online that offer great advice. Sometimes a mother dog or cat will ignore one of her young if she senses it is too weak to live or has some other problem. So if even after trying your best, the puppy still dies, it may be nothing you did, it could have been a birth defect the mother sensed. With that in mind, good luck to you and the pup. Keeping him warm and fed will help, along with plenty of rubbing, but if he has breathing problems there might not be much you can do.
