I have a 9 year old black lab female, when she sleeps she will often twitch her paws and yelp, but last night her throat was twitching. It freaked me out, so I woke her up. She opened her eyes but didn't look at me.I said "cookie" to make her re-act. So she looked at me but her tongue was sticking out but she wasn't panting.

That's was the first time I have seen her do this. She did it only once during the night. She's otherwise in very good shape and very active. Should I be worried about this?

This really doesn't sound like a seizure, but another manifestation of REM sleep, rapid eye moment sleep. Perhaps she was dreaming about eating something.
It does not sound like she is having problems otherwise. No coughing, difficultly swallowing, etc.
I think she will be fine but if you have any concerns, do make an appointment with your veterinarian. I am a big fan of wellness exams in older doggies just to make sure there are no problems.

Thank you for writing in.
