Drew Weigner, DVM, ABVP responded:
While hyperthyroidism (elevated thyroid level) can indeed cause seizures, it's an uncommon disease in young cats as it usually affects the elderly. It's a disease with a good prognosis, however, so an effort should be made to make sure that's what he has. There are confirmatory tests but if there's any doubt, ask your veterinarian to refer you to a board certified feline or internal medicine specialist for a second opinion.

I belong to a knowledgeable Yahoo group who have good info on cat seizures and I encourage to ask there.

My own cat has seizures but they are just idiopathic - no known reason.
