My dog just went through an 8 month ordeal to find a foxtail. After surgery which failed to locate it my Vet was about to send me to a specialist because her side was constantly producing pus from an ulcer on her flank. The Vet was just boggled at this point. Was it a foxtail or some sort of bacterial infection like MRSA? One day it just pushed itself right out! My vet believes it must have been lodged in the muscle of her flank. Now that the foxtail is out it looks like her flank on that side is a little under developed. So my question is could that foxtail have atrophied her muscle? Im sure my dog used her muscles diffrently on that side due to discomfort when the foxtail was in there. Should it even out now that she is pain free?
