milk in nursing dogs
An_220615 posted:
My chihuahua had 6 puppies on April 22nd and now seems to be running out of milk. Two of the six are not gaining weight and will not take the supplement I tried in a there any way to stimulate the production of milk in the mother? A special diet, or anything?

Home2strays responded:
She needs to be on a high quality puppy food. Do all her glands look ok? are any of them hot to touch or seem more swollen? It may be time for a checkup for her and the pups (most vets will do a litter checkup for 1 price instead of charging for each pup and mom) especially since they are so young hey can die very quickly if everything isn't right. There could be something wrong with mom or the puppies.
missysmom responded:
the herb fennugreek helps human moms produce more milk. Maybe ask your vet about this. Wish you were in Converse IN. My dog goes thru false pregnancies, and is just dripping milk all OVER!
