Separation Anxiety in Cats

taychap08 posted:
I recently moved out of my family home and left behind my cat. Everyday since I have been gone, my cat his been crying constantly and appears to go through cycles of anxiety and depression. I am unable to take my cat with me to my new home and I do not want him to be unhappy. I live close enough to visit him but I am not sure if that will make the situation better or worse. He was at the vet not too long ago and does not have any health reasons that could be contributing to the problem. How long will it take him to get over this? My other family members play with him and let him sleep in their room (previously he slept in mine). Any suggestions?

taychap- sounds like you are doing all of the right things now. How long it takes for him to get over it depends- there really is no right answer there. But, if your family continues to work with him on it, and you as well, it should not take too long. Just be patient- he'll get there. Best of luck- keep us posted.
