PCOS+ and spotting issues

Hello! I am 33 and just had my second 9 months ago. I was diagnosed 4 years ago. My periods were pretty regular before I had my first, with potting in between. After my son my periods were a little off, but still came. After my second, I had a period 2x after stopping BF, but then I have not had it for 4 months. I would spot on and off. About 3 weeks ago I thought it was coming on as the bleeding was more than a spotting, for a few days, but tappered off, and the spotting has continued every day since. I will notice pieces of tissue shedding when I do spot. Is this a normal thing? The OB wanted me to take provera to bring on my period and do BC, but I would rather not take provera again, since I had to take it 2x last year to try to get pregnant. I don't want to cont to pump synthetic drugs into me. Anyone experience this long of spotting?
