We have been ttc for over three years now. I was finally diagnosed with pcos last year after switching doctors. I am currently seeing a fertility specialist. I just finished my second cycle of clomid and it isn't doing anything. My doctor told me that about 20% of women with pcos have no reactino to clomid. I guess I'm just unlucky to be in the 20%. They're putting me on birth control for a month so I can start my period again. She mentioned some other fertility drugs she was going to try but hadn't yet made a decision on what she thought would work best. Does anyone have any experience with drugs other than clomid? I would like to hear the good and the bad...thank you

I used Clomid unsuccessfully for 8 rounds. I did ovulate twice on it, but no pregnancy. This month is my first month trying Femara. It's similar to Clomid but has less side effects and a better success rate in women with PCOS. I just got my blood drawn today to test for ovulation, so I can't tell you if it was successful yet. Femara, I can tell you, is a LOT easier on your body. The side effects I experienced on Clomid were endless. Nothing on Femara other than a slight loss of appetite. (I could use that anyway!)

If Femara doesn't work the next steps are IUI and IVF. I think they'd use injectibles for the IUI in conjunction with either the Femara or Clomid.

Good luck!
