Help! My daugher is only 19 and losing her hair!

My daughter was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago. She was put on birth control which helped her to have her monthly periods and stop the excessive growth of body hair; however, for about the last year, her hair is thinning. She's been using niacin for about a year now but is still losing her hair. Any suggestions? We are at a loss as to where to turn.
