Hi. I am 23 years old and just found out a week ago I have PCOS. The second my doctor told me I was beyond scared to say the least. My first thought of course was that my husband and I will not be able to conceive. Having a healthy baby is all I have wanted, besides marrying the love of my life. I hate to ask for more than what I already have. I do not know much about PCOS and I have read the information my doctor gave me and of course I have been online researching it. The internet can be very confusing with all of its information. Just when I think I finally understand what my next step is, I find more information that I am unsure of. I am trying very hard not to stress over this because I know that stress is only going to cause further issues with ttc. I am afraid though that when I finally do start with all the medicines and treatments and exams and everything else that it's not going to work out in my favor and I am going to be left majorly disappointed in the end.
At this point I am just wondering if it really is possible to get pregnant with PCOS. Also if I have PCOS does it mean I have diabetes? One more thing.. one of the symptoms I have is unwanted facial hair...badly. I wax my face and when the hair is to short I bleach it with cream face bleach. Is there any way to treat this? I know these are questions I need to be asking my doctor, and trust me I will. Its just I was hoping to get other people's opinions and experiences as well.
Honestly any information/experience in regards to PCOS that you could provide to me would be very appreciated. I am new to WebMD so I haven't had a chance to read through all of the posts.

Many women who have PCOS get pregnant. I personally know several women who have PCOS who were able to have children successfully-- one of whom didn't even know she had PCOS until after the birth of her first child (she now has two).
I have PCOS myself, although my husband and I have not yet started trying to conceive.
The truth is, some women have difficulty, and some do not. The most important thing is to coordinate with your doctor about treating any symptoms you may have (high blood sugar is a big one) that might cause difficulty in conceiving.

Not everyone PCOS becomes diabetic, but in my family where insulin resistance is strongly genetic I became diabetic in my 20's. I conceived on my first try using Clomid in 1999, I conceived on my first try with Metformin in 2002. I have two healthy sons.
Don't panic; anxiety will only make it harder. Studies have shown that things such as a mild shock or stress at/around normal ovulation time can cause it cause it to be delayed. Women have reported having late periods after a mild earthquake woke them from sleep around the middle of their cycle. Try to remain releaxed and learn how to improve your odds.

I haven't been put on any medications yet. I go Thursday to talk with my doctor. My last visit she mentioned a few medications but said we would get into that more after I had blood work and an ultra sound done. If no one else responds by Thursday to your question I can let you know what I find out.

I have PCOS and had three pregnancies. I have a 19-year-old son and 15 year-old triplets. I had a miscarriage (blighted ovum) between the pregnancies. I went through fertility treatments with all three.
I highly, highly recommend that you don't mess around with a regular ob when you decide you want to get pregnant. I went off b/c about 6 months before we really wanted to try, but I knew it wasn't going to be successful because I never had periods.
In my personal opinion, a woman with PCOS should not waste any time. If you know you have PCOS and do not have regular periods, definitely start right away with a fertility specialist.
See a good dermatologist about the facial hair. I take a daily medication for that and acne. It really works. PCOS also does not mean that you will automatically get diabetes. Fortunately, I don't have it and I'm almost 48.

Hello, I'm 24 and just found out I have pcos also. It is possible to get pregnant. If you have a sever case not so much, if you have a mild to moderate case yes. I have unwanted facial hair and my dr just prescribed me a cream for the hair. she also said i can get hair removal done. I hope this helps.

I received my PCOS and Endometriosis diagnosis almost 10 years ago and I have had several surgeries along the way. I actually got pregnant with my daughter right off the bat, which was shocking to me and my reproductive endocrionologist (I've been seeing him the whole 9 years). It is true that stress can make it harder to conceive, and I had tried Femara and IUI with no luck before I got pregnant on my own. Not only do I have PCOS, but I also have Endometriosis and Adrenal Insufficiency, so yes, you can definitely get pregnant if you take the right steps and take care of yourself. Also, I highly recommend finding yourself a highly reputable Reproductive Endocrinologist. As far as the facial hair goes, I have taken Spironolactone to help, but I saw no difference with it. I took it for years regularly and came off of it only when I became pregnant. I have a new prescription for Vaniqa cream and it is supposed to be great, but you can't take it if trying to concieve or pregnant, so I haven't had it filled yet. I take Metformin for my insulin resistance. Insulin resistance does not mean you are a diabetic or you will become one...but you should take care of your body, exercise, and watch what you eat. PCOS can be very confusing, but there are a lot of good sites that offer wonderful information and support. I have an appointment to see my RE April 18th and I will receive fertility meds to help get pregnant. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
