Almost 38 single and starting to worry about it being to late...
kauaishell posted:
I am very happy with everything about my life and I'm ok being single until I meet the right guy, but I do want to have a baby. These last few months I have really started to worry about it and will just start crying when I think about it. (I'm not a crier either) I just have always been able to make things happen for myself or fix things that are wrong in my life but this, I'm not sure what to do about it. Just keep trusting I will find the right guy? or start looking into being a single mom? I'm just not sure what to do..

This would depend on if you have a set time frame as to when you want to get pregnant or if you can wait for the right guy to come along. Women are having babies later and later in their years. I wish you all the luck. being a mommy is the best and I really hope you get your chance! with or without the right guy!

You should discuss this with your doctor. There are tests out there that can check your hormone levels and take a measure of ovarian health to see how you are doing on that front.

I'm sure you already know that the older you are, the harder it is to become pregnant naturally. That's not to say that it can't be done, but it can be difficult. Assisted reproduction has come a long way from where it was. One thing to keep in mind is that all the celebrities over 40 we see having kids, for many of them we do not know what extremes they went to to have kids. I applaud Celine Dion for being forthright with her fertility woes. You have to consider whether you would be open to using a donated egg and what going through IVF entails.

Really talk over your options with your doctor or a referred fertility specialist to get a better idea of what's out there. Only you can answer whether you want to continue waiting for the right man or decide to go it alone.

There are many volunteer activities where you can become involved in children's lives such as Big Brothers & Sisters if you decide to wait.

I say make the decision of wanting to be a parent independent of meeting the right guy. If you meet the right guy soon you will end up having to rush into things to beat the biological clock. I am 34 and I met my boyfriend last year and he wants to rush everything and miss all the good stuff because he wants to have two kids. I am beside myself over it. I wish I either met him years ago or when it was too late to have kids so there wouldn't be all this pressure. I love my boyfriend but I am not ready to have kids and I don't want to miss out on things.
